When I get my hands on a new piece sometimes I know exactly what is going to happen with it. Other times I don’t really know until the creative bug hits me. I buy lots of furniture everyday. Well, these days not so much as most auctions, thrift stores and antique stores are closed. No permits are given for garage sales and estate sales so I’m limited on new items. I’m totally prepared though, because, yes, I’m a furniture hoarder. That isn’t hard for me to say I’m pretty proud of my stash and all the items I have stored away for just a time as this. The last estate sale I went to was one of my favorite companies, Shaw Estate Sales. I bought like 7 small tables. In that haul, this little table made the cut.
It’s a great size and if done right can be used in many places in your home. Most of the time when we buy furniture we do that with one purpose in mind. I for one like to move things around my house. I like to rethink a piece in unexpected ways that aren’t the norm so that I can change things up. I have a china cabinet that serves as a liquor storage in my dining room. I’m using an old cart that sits in the entry of my home with a lamp. Also on that old cart is an old radio shell and that is the storage for our Alexa. You will find on my Instagram page one of my favorite things is to repurpose a hutch. Great in a dining room but wasted if you only use them there. In a guest room, it’s great for extra towels and blankets. In an entryway, it makes a beautiful first impression when you add special items to put on display. Hutches can be used in offices, crafting rooms, family rooms and let’s not forget laundry rooms for supplies.
This small table took a fancy turn once I started what at first glance seemed to be a simple makeover with white chalk paint. I knew that it was going to be donated to a local auction house called Rusty by Design. HINT: It will be a giveaway very soon! If you are interested please go and like their Facebook and Instagram. All the details on how to win this beautiful table will soon be published there!
Once I painted the table white I knew it needed something to make it extra special so I decided to add this amazing transfer. It is perfectly made for applying to furniture. I bought mine from a vendor at The Rustic Warehouse in Rockwall. The name of this vendor’s business is so cute – Hammer N Heels Antiques. I love that name and the 2 ladies that run it. They are the sweetest things and are always smiling when you see them. She has several transfers to pick from but this one and its Blue colors spoke to me. It’s a really easy project to complete and adds so much to any piece. This one came in 4 pieces that would be great to apply to a dresser. I still have 2 full pieces left for another project. I measured and cut the pieces to fit this table. I carefully laid the piece onto the table and used the included rubbing stick to apply it. To see what other designs are available ask at the counter at Rustic Warehouse to see their transfers.
This little table went from a blah blah blah brown to a fancy little table that is good just about anywhere in your home. I love to have little tables that match my decor that I can move around as I need to. It would be great in a family room but good to move to a guest room as an extra side table. Once those guests are gone you can move it back to the family room or to an entryway. It’s impossible to name all the ways you could use it. These kinda things are what make a home Blue Happy.
