I’m feeling a little buried over here with all this growth we are experiencing. I’m not complaining at all just overwhelmed in a good way. The steady fast pace of retirement has kept me from missing teaching as much. I do often think of my kiddo’s and miss them often. The fast pace of this new creative direction has me thinking of all kinds of new ideas but, it’s no secret I do not like winter. This beautiful Monday has us sitting in the middle of winter much faster than we are use to here in Dallas. I ignored the warnings from many. I just didn’t want to believe winter was upon us. Well here it is and I’m not gonna lie I just wanna lay down my brushes and hid. Greg says, “you know thats hibernation, right”. Okay he is being a smarty pants or calling me a bear. Or maybe both but I still just wanna hid. Don’t fear I haven’t put down my brushes or creative sander. So I have a few before and afters to share.
I’m blessed to have so many people who love me and love what I’m doing. This first piece is a small table a sweet friend gave me. It’s unique and full of options in your home. We all need that little table at the back door or in our bedroom or bathroom. A place to put those things we need to get to fast but oddly we don’t have space for it. This little table can fit in a snug space and use up a corner normally not used. I love the 2 tier level because it’s more storage.
I have so many odd and end tables that aren’t a part of a paired set. So my goal was to fill all my stores with these small tables in hopes they will find homes. You will notice they aren’t in the normal white, gray or black. This is Centennial Blue from Chalk Country. I picked this color because it’s still in the gray family with a hint of blue. There are those afraid to add color to their home. This lets you step out of the box or maybe put one foot out without being to bold with a bright color. All three of these pieces are so useful. The stool can be just that, added to a kitchen for that helper or for a friend to sit on while you cook. It could be great as a plant stand in the house or outside space. You could even use it in a tight area at the end of a sofa as a table.
The next project is a large end table with one drawer. I love the top shiplap look. That alone makes it farmhouse special. The table has a great underneath area to add a basket for books or blankets. See the theme here, storage and organizing is the name of this game.
The last little table was hard to drive away from. I loved this piece and wanted to keep it in my guest room. I sold my bed side table and haven’t replaced it yet. This piece was once a part of a vanity but somewhere down the line was separated and left by itself in a thrift store. I know this because of the markings on the side where it was once attached. I sanded and repaired that area and once painted out stood lovely on it’s own. I still would love to have this piece but it arrived in Waco Friday and sold the next day.
Loving what I do is an understatement. What I do with these pieces of furniture is part of what is in my creative head. My creative head is connected to my creative soul. I leave a big part of me in each piece I save and restore. I’m blessed beyond what I thought this would become. I’m ever so thankful for each of you that have followed my restored life story and continue to follow me into this creative future.
