A week ago I had this great blog all ready to post. Just needed to finish up taking pictures and ready it for my IT person (my sweet Heather) to make it happen. I was so very proud of this piece and all the creativity that I put in it. It was finished up on a Friday morning so I delivered it to Doc Holliday’s late in the day. Tagged it and went about my weekend. I had the blog coming out on Monday all about the piece and the story behind it. As quick as I drove away so did the piece. Someone came in and bought it that fast. Well that put a hold on the blog because there was no piece for you to go down and check out. What if someone wanted to buy it? Well that would have been rude of me to tease you about a piece that wasn’t even there. So I postponed the blog and came up with another piece that is not the same but in so many ways it is. Let me explain.
I’ve always said the best way to start your day is organized. Most would think that now I’m not teaching I don’t have to prepare for my day. Yes I do! I lay out my gym clothing, socks and shoes. I also put out what I’ll be wearing after the gym even if it’s my painting work gear. I just think your day goes better if you start the day prepared. That is why I created the dressing bar. This dressing bar is a place to have all you need to get ready along with a place to lay out your outfit.
I started with a long dresser. It was ugly, yellow and pine. I found it on the side of my neighbors curb. I wanted it to be special and have a presence in someone’s home. That lead me to the beautiful Carolina Blue chalk paint. Once painted, sanded back and clear coated I added the dress decal to the front. One final clear coat to protect it. I added the bar to the top for hanging that morning outfit and finished off the storage with an old drawer on top. What a perfect piece for a bathroom, bedroom or guest room. When I get time I’m gonna for sure make one for my bathroom.
No worries I’ve done another dressing bar with a matching nightstand. This one is very different put serves the same purpose. I would love this in my guest room so when guest come they could use it for their clothing. Like I said it’s smaller for your bathroom or bedroom to help you ready yourself for the next day. This would be a game changer getting out the door. The dress decal is simple but just enough to give it a special look. It’s well protected and so it will last. The nightstand can be used in the same room or just off the bathroom to draw the two rooms together. It’s Tuesday evening when this blog is posting and much after I’ve gone to bed. I will be delivering it to Doc Holliday’s on Wednesday afternoon. So if you are interested in this beautiful piece you best run up and see it before it’s gone.
