You know those weekends when you have time to clean your home or at least a room. It feels so good you just wanna sit there and stare at it. I love that feeling I get when this happens. I mean I clean my house but the days of doing a deep clean to where it looks all fresh and new are far between. With Monday off I had time to completely clean out my vanity in my bathroom. It always surprises me as to how much I toss out. I didn’t think it was bad at all but was yearning for more organization. It was so nice to get ready the last two mornings without looking past things I don’t use in my way. It only took me about 2 hours top to bottom to finish it.
I love organizing things so I don’t have to look for things. I already had a couple of organizing items I used on my vanity and under the sink. I purchased a new 2 shelf system to also put under the sink. This is where I will keep all my supplements. Over the years of my journey my supplement collection has grown. Before, I had them sitting neatly on my vanity top, but it drove me crazy. I found the 2 shelf system at Aldi for only $9.
It is such a refreshing feeling when you take the time to clean an area in your home out. If you get overwhelmed thinking about cleaning out your home, don’t! Break it down into small sections. I have been needing to clean my bathroom for a while. I have a large built-in pantry that is next on my list. I don’t have time to do it all in one weekend so I’ve broken it down into small doable areas. Next weekend is the pantry and I can’t wait because really I’m not sure what all that stuff is.
One thing people tell me all the time is my kids homework and school stuff is all over the place. It seems like during the school year I can’t get a grip on it. What if you have a place to do homework. Maybe you could add this place to the family room or in a den area. What about a guest room so it’s completely out-of-the-way. Go online, garage sales or thrift stores and look for a small table with seating. You want it to be small so that it can be worked into your home. Put out and organizer on top that has school supplies in it. Maybe add a storage box under the table or at the side. This area is only for school work nothing else. When school is on summer or holiday break maybe its a family game table. It’s all about organizing a place so that everyone knows that is it’s purpose.
I recently redid a table set that could be used for a desk as well. A stand up desk is really gaining popularity these days and this table/desk could also be used to work while standing up. This little set really didn’t go together. Someone had added the stools but the stools were really to tall for it. I used a table saw a cut off the legs to make them to better fit the table. I painted it out in Pure Pewter from Chalk Country Paint and finished it off with defender. This little table with its light wood butcher block top was so popular in the 90’s. Now its updated and ready to serve a family well today. I’m sure if you look around your home there a pieces you love that but are worn out. Focus on one room at a time and I’m sure that by summer your home will be looking new and refreshed.
