Tired, Worn Out and Run Down

June 13, 2018

That’s me summed up in a few words tired, worn out and run down.  My workout schedule hasn’t lightened up even though I’m out of school.  I’m still getting up at 3:50am to go to the gym.  Even if I try to sleep in my body has its own mind and awake I am no later than 4am.  Someone said why don’t you go later in the day now that you don’t have to be at school.  The answer to that is I’m a routine person and to change would only mean a harder time changing back in August.  So I’m keeping my gym schedule just adding in an hour float in the pool during the afternoon. Working on Blue Happy with projects stacked sky-high to fill both the Wylie and Waco stores.

Sometimes I look around my home and think it looks tired and plane. When in reality it is and I’m not far from wrong. We all get busy and don’t pay attention to the little things and before we know it our closet is a mess, the guest bathroom looks like an old hotel or our family room is the last place our family wants to be. I have taken on this project of redoing each and every room of my home this summer.  That way when school starts back the holiday’s rolls in I’m house ready.  Now when I say a redo to each room what I mean is a refresh.  The only room that needs a complete redo is our guest bathroom.  That redo will come later in the fall. I want to soak up all the sun shine I can this summer outside.

Refreshing a room can be a simple as adding new pillows to the couch or bed. Maybe adding new art work on the wall and while you’re at it maybe gift your old stuff to a friend.  That way they can refresh with things new to them.  One of my guest rooms will be getting barn doors over the closet and a new night stand in the corner by the bed.  Greg will replace the ceiling fan and I’ll be adding curtains to the large (and I mean large) window at the end of the bed.  Because of the barn doors it adds time to this room project so a good 48 hours and that room is all done. It’s that simple to change and refresh things.  Living with tired worn out and run down doesn’t make you Blue Happy.

Someone gave me a little vanity/desk that was wobble and worn out.  The top was split and needed to be replaced.  The wobble was easy to fix with tightening the legs and a couple of gentle placed nails.  The top on the other hand wasn’t salvageable.  We used an old leaf from a table to cut a new top.  Greg attached it and trimmed it out to give it a finished look.  I worked my Chalk Country Paint magic.  Once dry I used a stencil and only applied it ever so lightly so not to make it perfect.  I sanded back the edges of the piece and sanded the top to make the stencil look worn.  I finished it off with 2 coats of Defender in Satin.  What was tired, worn out and run down is once again beautiful.

I love love love this piece.  I can’t believe the transformation.  It just goes to show you that you can refresh any piece in your home without spending tons of money.  Start small in the refreshing of your home.  Those small projects add up and before you know it you are in love with your home once again.
