It’s easy to fall into a rut. To make everything about your home, life and character everyday humdrum. Sometimes it’s just fun to step out of your comfort zone and color outside of the box. I often go into doctor offices or homes and think wow everything is all the same color. What if they put a red end table next to the sofa or a pop of yellow. That would sure wake up the room.
When we moved into this house I fell into a deep rut called all dark brown. Dark walnut wood floors, brown leather sofa and love seat and to top it off a brown cloth casual chair. It was all so boring but safe. I had lived in my last house so long I didn’t know what to do with this new house. For fear of making it the same as the last I just went plain. Jump ahead a few years I’m starting to change things. I got rid of the dark wood tables and replaced them with some Blue Happy Crisp Collar white. I’m looking for a new causal chair with some color. I will more than likely keep the brown leather sofa’s but new pillows with color will jazz them right up.
How does your home look? Have you fallen into a rut with all the same color tone? It’s spring and time to refresh your home. You can do this without spending much money. It’s all about picking one thing in the room and add a punch of color with paint. End tables, coffee table or an entry table can give you that new refreshed look your home needs.
Yesterday I picked up a great little side table that someone was selling online. I brought it home wiped it down and started the makeover. I removed the hardware so I could reuse it. I used turquoise from Chalk Country Paint. It’s a bright color but very popular in the decor scene right now. I did sand back the edges to give it the worn look but was careful not to over do it. Defender finished it off for protection.
This little table will be a great punch of color for someone’s home. It’s not to big of a piece that it will over power the room. It will certainly bring that fresh look in this new season. Have a Blue Happy Day!!
