Five days ago Blue Happy Living opened up in Waco at the Cameron Trading Company. Success is what we prayed for and success is what we got 10 fold. When we added a second store space we expected things to sale but never expected the level of success we have had. When the phone call came that we needed to bring more items to Waco I think Greg and I questioned it because of the amount of items we loaded into the booth on set up last Friday afternoon. The information was right there in front of us and we just needed to get to work.
Off to the storage room to collect some already finished items and a few unfinished items. Working is the plan for the next few days and evenings so that we are loaded and ready to drive to Waco on Friday afternoon. The boxes and stakes of project pieces are stacking up a little at a time. My Waco store has a different vibe than my store at Doc Holliday’s Emporium. In Waco it’s all Farmhouse white with touches of Pure Pewter and Santa’s Coal’s from the Chalk Country paint line. Doc Holliday’s is all about the vibration of color. I’m not afraid to fill my store space with any and all colors from the Chalk Country line. Doc Holliday’s is over loaded with blue in every shade of the color mixed with farm country white.
Opening a second store space was a challenge at best. It took me months to learn the market and shopping habits of the Doc Holliday customer. Waco will be much difficult because I’m not there and the store is much different. At Doc’s we have great customer service and the once a month sidewalk sale allows me to connect with my customers and blog readers. I love that connection and knowing how my items are used in someones home. Many times a piece is purchased and I have no idea who bought it or where it is going. To tell the truth that makes me a bit sad. I like hearing about how it made a difference in their home or how they are using it.
So tonight my blog is very short. No before and after or long drawn out explanation on how I did what I did. I’ve got one room stacked with things going to Waco and the other room is stacked with sidewalk sale items for this Saturday at Doc Holliday’s. I’m working and I’m very tired. Hoping I can make it to bed by 9:00am because that alarm at 3:50am is gonna be a killer. I don’t mind being tired, worn out and on my last bit of energy. It’s all worth it to be allowed to create and live an artist dream of creating things that other’s love.
