I’ve been working hard for this Saturday’s event. I have climbed 70 flights of stairs 5 days a week for weeks now. The Big D Climb is this Saturday and I have an 8:45 coral time. This will be my third year to make the climb and I’ve got big goals this year. The first year I made it in 44 minutes, the second year I made it in 30.30 minutes. Not to bad for only being 10 weeks out of my leg and arm skin removal surgery. This year I’m going for under 30 minutes. I’d like to crush SkinnyMeg’s (less than 20 minutes) record but you never know. She was the one who got me into this climb thing. Look her up, her story is amazing!
I’ve been working hard, even enduring Shelly’s early morning workouts. I’ve been cycling, doing body pump class, working independently on toning and weight lifting, running, walking and the all dreaded stair climber. Last night I was so excited Leann (the greatest trainer ever) held one of her famous Zumba classes at the gym. It was like a gym girl reunion. We had such a great time but there is this one song. I’m not ashamed to say I have fallen many times during this song. My head and feet just don’t meet up as they should and I get tangled up. I didn’t fall last night but there was this pop I felt and heard in my right calf muscle.
What I thought was going to be a day of projects was a day with Dr. V my chiropractor. When I limped in he shook his head and said up on the table we got work to do. The pain was awful, the dry needling was ugh so not fun, the massage and muscle rolling was even more painful but at the end of it all it felt better. I’m all tapped up to help support it. He was nice enough to use the blue tape, at least that made me happy.
I’m still doing the climb and will push through this without any question of quitting or stopping once I start. I’m pig-headed that way I don’t really think I would know how to quit or give-up. I’m so blessed I have this great group of women around me at the gym. Our friendship goes way beyond a gym class or working out. The support shown to each other is amazing. I can’t imagine going this journey alone. They are by far a big part of my success in my restored life journey.
