I’m always in search of a great junk yard to shop from. I love to dig and find things that most would consider trash. Bringing that trash home and turning it into something fabulous is my goal. I’ve heard about this salvage yard for over a year or so. I see them pop up on Facebook all the time. Every time I see it pop up I think I need to go down to Dallas and check this place out. Well after a year or so I finally went and boy what a gold mine this place is. It’s called Orr-Reed Wrecking.

I use old wood doors for many projects and this place has doors galore. You can find any design, any size, some with windows and some just solid wood through and through. With the sliding barn door at an all time popular thing to do in your home this is an easy way to get that look. Measure your opening and go find a door. The best place to get the hardware is on Amazon. In a few weeks I’m going to show you how I transformed my guest room closet and saved some space by installing a sliding door.

Old windows and screens are another popular item in todays decorating. I love to use them as back drops and give a decorative area height. I’m on the look out for the perfect old window for over my fire-place. That day is was very cold and rainy. I don’t like that kinda weather so I’ll be going back this weekend to find my perfect window. Old windows are also perfect for using as frames for photo’s or special items you want to display and protect. They have every size and style you can imagine.

Windows and doors are not the only treasure they have in stock. If you need old wood for a project this is the place to go. Every size, color, weathered and unique piece of wood is stacked up on these racks. Take the time to go and dig for something special to make your project stand out. When I go this weekend I’m going to be looking for unique wood to finish out a coffee table I’ve been working on.  I love have my own stash of old wood so when I saw all this wood stacked up it stopped me in my tracks.  I thought I had found treasure island of all things old and good.

Really they pretty much had anything and everything your would need to complete a great project in your home.  From furniture projects to home decor projects this place is a jewel and worth looking into.  It’s small but hold’s treasures of many kinds.  The prices are perfect and the employees where so friendly and helpful.  I know I will be going back again and again and again.
