In just a few short days summer for me is over for me. I will be returning to my classroom to teach my 12th year at Wylie Prep. I can’t believe my plan to teach 2 years is now 10 years past that goal. I do miss my kids and all the art I get to see process from their creative little minds. I can do without all the hustle of the school year. I wish we could just do art in the studio and forget about all the other. Some how I’m not sure the school board will go for that.
A stolen moment 2 days before my surgery. I love these kids and our sweet little Lyla Mae.
Now that summer is over its time for me to get back into my routine. I’ve been lost this summer with this long recovery time and no routine. Dr A says I’m healing well and I’m almost there. My back is still giving me trouble a bit, painful at times and then there are the stitches that keep popping out. So many times I’m ask if you knew then what you know now would you do it all over again? The answer is yes but I would have done it sooner. I do best when I can look at my day and know what is happening. One of the most important things to make my day and week go well is organization of my things. Over the weekend I will prepare my closet, bathroom, kitchen and garage. If those rooms are in order and organized I will assure myself a smooth start to this 2017/2018 school year.
One of my favorite things this time of year is beginning to prepare for the fall and winter holidays. This year I’m due a new Christmas tree. I guess its okay to start the hunt because all the stores have all the Christmas decor out and ready to shop. I put up my tree the day before Thanksgiving and decorate it on Thanksgiving day. This is something I started the first year I got married. I love my tree and the story it tells. More on that when it goes up. I love Thanksgiving to Christmas holiday time with all it’s love and giving. For the most people are happier during this time of year. August is a great time to decide if you want to update any rooms in your home for the holiday. I always wait until the first of November and then I’m rushed and most of the time have to cut my list short. Start by making a list of things to-do in each room. Organize your list so that the most important things are on the top so you are assured to get those done. Nothing stinks worse than having to stuff things into closet so guest can’t see your unfinished work. For me the fear of someone opening a closet door when they think it’s a bathroom is enough to make me start early this year.
Well it looks like a busy weekend for me so I’m going to call it a night. Tomorrows blog is a great one you’ll have to check it out. It’s all about how to redo a room that is full of mix and match items. Hope your day was Blue Happy and tomorrow is full of memories.
