So junking for me is an everyday event. If I’m not pulling off the road to grab someone’s toss out’s I’m stopping at a garage, estate or thrift sale to fill my truck. One thing I love to do is put things on wheels. Those wheels can get expensive if I don’t find them used in one of the ways listed. Recently I came across a heck of a deal at the Helping Hands in Rockwall Texas. I found two round plant stands with wheels in a 2 for 1 deal. They were brand new with the wheels still attached in the plastic taped to the bottom. I was so excited to get the deal on the wheels I totally dismissed the metal stand they would be attached too. This is why Greg and I work so well together. In my excitement I almost let something so great go. I was going to toss these metal stands on the curb for the metal guy and then the voice of reason. Greg said wow those look like those things a certain someone in Waco sells. He was right although he had no idea what they were called he still said the words that made me stop in my tracks.
Sometimes I get the cart before the horse when I’m excited about things. Like the time that I got so excited about a dresser Idea that I painted it, added hardware and clear coated it before Greg put in a shelf. Lots of small repairs had to be done to the almost finished piece because of installing the wood shelf. So I need to work on that cart before the horse thing, I’ll add it to my list of things to work on about me. Anyway back to the project at hand. Greg was right about one thing I needed to revisit coming up with an idea with these round plant stands. I decided that I would make them into dessert stands for the table or counter top. Greg cut out 2 circles the size of the bottom of the stand. This is where the wheels would have gone. Now I’ve used the holes for the wheels to attach the wood circle. Before I can attach the circles I have to finish out the woods. Sanding the edges and the top gave them a great smooth finish. I was loving the natural color of the wood so no stain just a clear coat finish. If you notice there is a knot in the wood that just adds that special character. I love the finish project and what WOW it will add to someones table or counter top. Pick up some cup cakes on your way to Doc Holliday’s to pile high on the top of your new dessert stand.
Now for the teaser! It’s only a photo you can try to read into it as much as you think you can. Guess away, pretty sure you will never get it. Maybe you will!
There are 2 of these great dessert stands and Friday both will be at Doc Holliday’s 113 S Birmingham Wylie Tx.
