I love when something comes out better than my little creative mind can imagine. Sometimes mistakes turn out to be the best ever when they make the piece and not destroy it. Being creative makes everything better these days and this little project also made me giggle.
Rustybydesignauction.com is another one of my addictions. I get so excited when I get the email telling me they have an auction open. I open up the auction and scan all the items carefully. Put what I like on my watch list, bid on those things I for sure want and watch closely. This past auction I won these 2 rusty beauties. Boy were they tough looking but I knew restored they would be so cute. I used my drill and a wire bit to get any rust off the metal. The tops of the tables sanded up well. On both pieces I was so excited about the beautiful wood that peaked through all that dirt and old stain. I had plan on staining the tops but decided to just clear coat and leave them raw. I used Valspar outdoor project paint with a rust blocker. On the table with the sun flower I dusted in yellow and white. Shabby chic sanding followed by Valspar clear finish in satin sealed and protects them.
