Saturday is the sidewalk sale at Doc Holliday’s Emporium. I’m so excited my head is about to explode. I’ve had these projects ready since before my surgery. It has been almost unbearable to walk pass them everyday knowing they are leaving my studio very soon. It’s that issue I have wanting to keep all the things I do. Again my house isn’t big enough Greg I need a bigger house. Or not because I’ll have to clean it.
Some times I get things that are almost beyond repair and you have to make the call to change it into something, strip all the parts you can use later or sadly in some cases take it to the curb. I thought this chair might have to be a curb chair but Greg stepped in and saved it. He knew I loved it because of the character it had and oh the stories it could tell if it could talk. On the bottom is a metal plate with a lady’s name not sure of the story behind that but I left it to pass on. Greg secured the chair with nails and glue. It’s would never be sturdy enough for sitting but it still has life. He put two boards on the underneath to support the plant. By leaving out the center board it allows for drainage. I took over and gave it a beautiful coat of red paint. I also sealed it with Valspar clear finish in satin. I sat the fern in it and it was beautiful but I felt like it needed a whimsical touch. I added the door knocker that I found in my stash of hardware. The door knocker had a large hole for a peep-hole on a door. I filled that in with this bird hardware I found at Hobby Lobby. It is now ready for the front porch or patio. Perfect for a house or apartment. It adds color in a whimsical way.
This next project is one of my very favorite of this sales collection. I found this basket in someones trash one day coming home from school. It had a lid, strap thing on the top of the basket. I took that off and used Valspar Project Paint in this bright yellow. I loved this color when I saw it. It reminded me of the sunshine. It will add a pop of color to any porch or patio. I put in a bag of rocks at the bottom to give it weight. I added the fern and then the moss to cover the rocks and pot up. I love the little message on the front. It’s a happy little porch decor that’s saying “Hello”.
I often go to junk yards to see what goodies I can find to add to things. This teal beauty was on a pile ready to be crushed and buried forever. It wasn’t teal and beautiful when I found it. It was white and a touch of rust. I used Valspar outdoor spray paint that had a built-in primer to block rust. It’s not finished but you will have to come to the sale on Saturday to see just how I finish it off.
One last teaser! This old wood tool box has seen better days. I’m keeping the finished piece a secret until Saturday. Now it’s got so much character and class to add to your home. How pretty it would be in the center of an outdoor table. It could also be moved inside after summer to any table you need to dress. I didn’t plant directly in it so it could be easily changed out for the season and placement. You will have to see it Saturday at the sale.
Well that’s a few of the items I have for the sidewalk sale. There are many I didn’t show you so you will have to drop by and see the rest. Thank you so much for loving Blue Happy and making it a success. I never take for granted the talent God has blessed me with. I thank Him everyday!
PS: There will be other venders outside as well. Many great items to pick from.
