I’m counting the days until Dr A tells me I can return to my normal life. I guess that might be a funny statement most people looking into my life would say normal it’s not. I’m trying to be good and mind the rules but it’s a struggle every day. I stand and walk around for about an hour at a time. I stand to eat, walk around the pool and I walk around my studio and dream of projects I want to do. I’m not one for giving into the down and depression so I came up with a plan. I’m a fix it kinda soul it’s how I deal with things.
I’m gonna do small projects to keep my hands busy. I got so excited when I took a bowl out to my studio this morning to collect a few things. They have to be small I can’t left more than a plate of food at this point. I have been saving these honey bottles because they are so pretty. I eat honey every morning to help with my allergies. It’s Texas honey I pick up in Waco from Heritage Homestead every time we go down there. I buy at least 4 bottles to tide me over until we go again. To tell the truth we’ve made Saturday trips just to get my honey. Once I wanted to go to Waco so bad but we had just been about 2 weeks before. I didn’t think Greg would go back so soon so I came up with a plan. I hide the 3 bottles of honey I already had and told him we need to go because I was down to only half a bottle. We went to Waco that Saturday. I know, but sometimes I can’t help myself I’m not good at being good. I have always wanted to do something with these empty bottles. I also gathered a ball of twisted jute, a hot glue gun, some beads, white twine and a teal lock plate.
First thing I did was wrap the honey bottle in the twisted jute all the way to the top of the bottle. I put hot glue every so often so the jute laid tight against the bottle. Once at the top I used the hot glue to secure it to the to edge. I decided to use the beads and white twine to make a decorative bow with beaded strings down the front. I put a black polished rock in the center to secure all the tying I did on the bow. At the top of the bottle I used some old braided ribbon I had in my studio to give the top a more finished look. Once I put the teal lock plate at the bottom of the bottle I was done.
Adding small items like this around your house can pull a room together. It can be decorative or help you organize something. I could see pens or pencils in this bottle or even scented sticks that you add oil to refresh. I like it on my fire-place mantle as just a pretty decorative piece. This is recycling at it’s best and there are so many bottles we toss out. You could use wine bottles, salsa jars or even a pickle jar. Really any type of glass bottle or jar that is interesting. NO plastic because you are using hot glue! I’m gonna try really hard to keep myself busy in small ways so my body can heal up. I’m ready to get back to my busy life without having to take more time off because I didn’t mind my doctor. All is good and I’m being good. For now anyway!
