Sometimes I tend to run through my day without once stopping and enjoying my day. When the school year is on I’m so guilty of that. I get up with purpose and attack it like it’s a giant cup cake. I go through the process 1, 2, then 3 everything in order with no missed steps. I tell everyone all the time live within the moment you are in. Don’t let it slip away because you will never get it again. I need to hear my own words. I’m working on slowing it all down but I’m so over this down time and resting. It’s driving me out of my mind!!
Today I had very important decisions to make about Blue Happy. My website, blog, planning and designing. Heather is working with me on that and I don’t know what I would do without her. The girl talks over my head about web stuff and she lost me at Scarlett doing patty cake on the other side of the room. All I heard her saying was blah, blah, blah is that okay with you Mom? I said sure, I hope I’m not in some weird outfit for the new web page. I have no idea what she said to me. I’m guessing she will read this and send me evil messages about how important it is for me to be involved with every decision.
My heart is that of an artist and that is what I want to do, other wise I drift off. I just wish that her and her Dad would make all those decision and let me just be creative. I find all that business stuff head ache material and I’m not for that. At one point I drifted off to a project I finished just before my surgery. It’s down at Doc’s and it’s a beauty. A friend of mine called me and ask did I want this dresser. It was in great shape just needed a little TLC and it would be a shabby chic winner.
When I got it back to my studio I unloaded it and decided to check it out more. When I opened the top drawer I knew this one was gonna be so fun and a great piece for someone’s home. The name Bassett was inside the dresser. Bassett is great furniture and always stands the test of time. I cleaned it all up and started the process of creating. I removed all the hardware and sprayed them black with Valspar Project Paint. On the dresser I used Annie Sloan Coco color and gave it two coats for good coverage. I wanted it to have a time passed kinda style so I applied stencils to the top and then sanded most of it back off letting some of the wood stain show through. Sanding the edges added the vintage look that matched the hardware style. Three coats of clear finish will protect it from day-to-day use.
I started out trying to blog and make some sense of all the business end of Blue Happy Living, but my heart drifted back to my creative heart. I’ll push through and learn all these things Heather is trying to teach me. She even put a new App on my phone and went into detail about how I’m to send her pictures for the web. She and her Dad are a lot alike when it comes to business smarts, they got it I don’t. Tomorrow I will share with you some more of the side-walk sale goodies, It’s this Saturday and my collection of stuff is all about curb appeal and patio comforts. I love each and every piece and once again I want to keep it all. I hope your Tuesday was amazing and you end this Tuesday with Blue Happy moments.
The sidewalk sale is Saturday at Doc Holliday’s Emporium 113 S Birmingham Wylie Texas. They open at 10 and close at 6.
