It’s Coming and I’m So Excited

May 1, 2017

My favorite time of the year is summer. That is one of the great things about living in Texas. I like the temperature above 85 degrees. Yes that is what I said above 85 and to tell the truth I love when it’s 95 to 100. Summer is all about sun, pool, BBQ’s, family and friends. I love to have an impromptu pool party. So having things ready for the season is important.

It takes us about 2 weeks to get the front yard and back yard summer ready. It’s all about weeding, mulching, planting and decorating to make it all perfect. This weekend we did a few projects in the backyard, well as much as we could with all the bad weather. This next week I’ll be picking out flowers for the pots around the pool, the flower beds front and back along with freshening up the furniture. Greg has a few wood work projects to finish up like building more steps for the deck of my studio and a new ramp and steps for the work shop. I’ll finish up the painting of the new studio shutters and trim around the door. Like I said 2 weeks of work to get it all ready. This year we are in a fast push because it all has to be done before my surgery. I’m gonna enjoy sitting by the pool and recovering.

One thing I like to do for the patio is have a box that is ready for guest to have dinner. I love to have it all ready so I don’t have to spend time and fussing over the little things. In the tub that I keep on the patio is paper goods, table clothes, extra lighting, salt and pepper and utensils with napkins. I found this great caddy at an estate sale just this past weekend. It was very dusty so I cleaned it up. I used Valspar project spray paint in teal to give it a new and up dated look. Filled it in with utensils and napkins to make it all ready to go. The price was great and it’s like a new piece to add to any outside picnic table. I already have one for my patio so this one will be in my booth at Doc Holliday’s.

I have so many of my friends say we don’t even go in our back yard. WHY????? It’s like having another living space in your home. You don’t have to have a lot of money to fix it up. I’m sure if you looked around at garage sale, estate sales, thrift stores and trash troll a bit you could fix it up for under $250. You could even do it for less if you really tried. So what if you don’t have a pool add a misting system from Walmart, Lowes or Home Depot will keep things cool while you enjoy outdoors.   Look on-line and find one really cheap. A kiddie pool is better than no pool at all it’s all about getting wet. Add a few yard games for the family or maybe even a fire pit. It really is all about making memories not spending money.

Through out this week I will be sharing my back yard and front yard as I ready them for summer. I hope this week is way Blue Happy for you with lots of memories.

I will deliver this basket to Doc Holliday’s Emporium 113 S Birmingham Wylie Tx by 1:00 on Monday May 1st.
