I can not get enough of organizing. I love anything that puts things away and keeps them organized until I need them. I’m pretty sure I missed my calling I should have been one of those people who go into someones home and organize things. It’s not to far-fetched to believe that could have been my life. After all I spend my time trying to find ways to organize things. Looking for things when I need them isn’t my idea of a Blue Happy life. As a matter of fact here’s a little tidbit about me, when something gets misplaced and I have to look for it I kinda melt down. Yes I crumble if something in my home is misplaced don’t judge!!
So been there done that title is because I’ve done these boxes before. I got this one at Rustybydesignauction.com my favorite place to shop for goodies. If you haven’t checked them out yet you need to every auction has so many items. They are different overtime and the selection and prices can’t be beat. Most people look at these metal file boxes and think office storage. They have so much more potential than office storage the options are many. I would use it in my kitchen for spices or if my kitchen was small you could use it for utensils and cooking tools. In the bathroom make-up is a given but what about medications, jewelry or even nail polishes. One of my favorite ideas is to assign a different drawer for each family member or just to each kid. Use the drawers to put small belongings in it when left around the house or school papers they need to return to school. For older kids it’s a great place for mail. All I know, these little metal boxes have great potential to organize your home and do it with a little sassy decor.
This cabinet was once used as a film storage library so it is marked on the bottom of the drawer. My first thought was to leave it but not all the drawers were in great condition. To get it ready to paint I had to sand a bit of rust off the outer box. Once I did that I painted the inside of the drawers first. I used a deeper more subtle green than on the outside. I like the contrast and it’s a great way to use up small amount of spray paint left from another project.
Once that was dry I flipped over the drawers and started painting with a brighter green. No need to tape off because with the drawers face down the paint only hits the outer box. I gave all the drawers and the box a couple of coats to give it good coverage. Once dry I hit it with the sander, it’s so cute with it shabby chic vintage look!
Once put all together it was clear that it came out an organizing winner. I love it and would love to keep it but it’s not blue so it doesn’t match my bathroom. To tell the truth I have these all over my house organizing many things already. It is a beautiful Thursday and next week is SPRING BREAK FOR WYLIE PREP!!! I hope your day is Blue Happy and full of organizing fun.
This organizing box will be in my booth at Doc Holliday’s Emporium 113 S Birmingham Wylie Tx on Saturday March 4th.
