Happy New Year Ya’ll! I’m happy to see 2017 arrive it’s always refreshing to see another year God has blessed me with. We had a few friends over and enjoyed some crazy card games. So happy to see my bestie here to celebrate a new year of her life. My friend Janice brought some bubble that was good but tickled my noise a bit. All in all it was a great night with great friends.
Things are changing around here our family grew in 2016 with the birth of my granddaughter Scarlett and my son getting married to Ali. Now in 2017 we will grow again with the birth of my 3rd grandchild Lyla Mae. I’m not one for New Years Resolutions but I do set goals for the year. My goal this year is to share with you more ways to save money and have the home you desire on a budget. Each week I will have at least one project that details a project and how to do it on a budget. My first one will be on Friday the 14th of January. It will be a blog showing how to do a nursery on less that $500. All the furniture, decorations, bedding and so much more. I’ve done this before with Ethan’s nursery and I’m doing it now with Scarlett’s nursery. The Nursery on the 14th will be Lyla Mae’s nursery. I will show Scarlett’s nursery when I show Heather’s house room by room.
There is a lot that goes into a babies nursery so I’d like to start sharing all the furniture pieces as they get done. So here is one more change, but a different kinda change. This change happens when the baby’s bottom has a little stickiness. A changing table is needed in every nursery. I snagged this one for only $20 on Craigslist a few months ago. It was not the right color as Ali wanted the furniture to be white. I used Valspar Project Paint to change it from black to a beautiful white. I dusted off the corners and edges for the worn look. This is a great look for a nursery so as the baby grows and nicks happen to the furniture you don’t notice them, they fit right in. I did give it a good clear coat finish so it’s easy to wipe clean. Ali requested storage on the changing table and this one gives her lots of storage. I added cloth cube baskets to the shelves for extra clothing, diapers, wipes and all those other baby needs.
I looked on-line for new changing tables in white. The price ranged from $100-$300 and up. This table not even close to that price at all.
Table 20
Paint 12
Cube’s 24
Pad 8
Sheet 0
TOTAL: $64
It’s that simple to save money. With a bit of effort and a nice sunny afternoon here in Texas this changing table is finished. Money was saved and we are one piece closer to finishing this nursery for sweet Lyla Mae. I can’t wait until it’s all finished and I can revile the completed room to you all. It’s gonna be so sweet and a peaceful place for my granddaughter to sleep, play and grow.
It’s the first Monday of the new year and the best day of the week. I hope that you set goals for yourself and are hard at planning to make those goals met in 2017. Have a Blue Happy week.
