It’s A Big Secret!

January 20, 2017

How many times, days and years have I done laundry for my family. You separate it all out by colors, start the first load and then proceed with it all day until it’s done. I always did whites last, why you ask. Well I didn’t like doing the whites because there was always those socks. You know the ones that had NO match. You look every where and no sock is to be found. You save the unmatched socks hoping that when you wash next time it will show up. It’s like there is this big secret place where socks go to wait until they decide to come back.  I guess it’s called Secret Sock Land. This makes me giggle!

Some times that socked would show up and then you would beat yourself up trying to remember where you put the other sock. Now you have 2 unmatched socks and you can’t find where you put the other sock. It is enough to drive you batty. On my shopping trip to Oklahoma I found a great piece to help out in the laundry room. It was a wood towel rack at one point in its life, but not any longer. It’s going to be a home for unmatched socks or lost and found if you will.

I removed the wood dowels that where across the front. It was easy to do just a hammer and a bit of built up frustration. I lightly sanded the entire piece and wiped it down. I used 2 coats of Annie Sloan in Olive. I’ve never used her brand before because I thought it was way to expensive. Boy was I ever wrong about her paint. It is such a good quality of paint. In most cases it’s a one cover paint and the colors are so rich. I’m a fan and will be using this paint in the future more often. After the paint dried I added the scrabble letters at the top. This made it fun and whimsical that will add to any laundry room. I dusted off the edges with the sander and finished it out with a couple of coats of clear finish.

When doing laundry and you have an unmatched sock you can toss it in for safe keeping. Sooner or later you will find the other sock or another set will be separated and you can  unit the two odd balls together. I choose to use the letters that read Lost and Found so that you can use it for most anything or in any room of your home. I don’t know about your but when my kids were at home all kinds of things got left lying around. Game pieces, school items, gloves and so much more. Now this little box can be their home until they are claimed.

I really enjoyed redoing this box. Finding away to reuse things from the past makes me Blue Happy. As you can see Cooper decided he needed to be in the picture. I hope your Friday is full and your weekend is memorable.
