I’m a teacher at an amazing school that is called a University Model School. It’s the best of both worlds for more than one reason. It is Christian based and we are allowed to teach these children educational information and teach from the bible. It is also based on the parents being co-teachers. What that means is the second reason it’s so great. Our kids are in school Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Tuesday, Thursday home schooled by the co-teaching parent.
My son graduated from this school and I loved the days we were together. I felt like I didn’t miss out on him so much because he wasn’t in school 8-4 all 5 days of the week. My grandson just started school there this year. He is in kindergarten and he loves it. When my daughter and son-in-law built a new home they made sure there was a room just for home schooling. That same room serves as an office for my daughter as she is the Marketing person at our school. So Ethan will have his work space and so will Mommy. That makes everyone happy!
When Heather told me that Ethan needed a desk for this new home school room I went to work to find one. I wanted something that could be moved around easy and had storage. I didn’t want the typical desk against the wall with drawers to pile things in. Greg and I found and old vintage school desk at an estate sale. We got to the sale just an hour before it was closing so every thing was 75% off. This little desk was marked $10 so that meant $2.50 what a great deal. It was in terrible shape and needed lots of glue repairs to the wood edges. Greg took care of that so all I had to do was sand, sand and sand to get off years of gunk. I had planned on spray painting the metal but after I sanded it a bit I like the old metal. I stained the wood top, seat and back. I used spray clear coat over the entire desk metal and wood area’s.
It’s done and I can’t wait to deliver this to Ethan. School starts back next week and he will have a place to keep his supplies and do his daily work. I love to do things for my family and I love to see them using them. Here’s hoping your Thursday is grand and Blue Happy. Mine is I’m on my way to Waco!!!
