I’ve blogged about the chairs turned to benches. I’ve blogged about the two beautiful accent chairs that will set at the end of the table. What about the table? Well it’s done and last night we all sat around it at their new home and had our first meal. It turned out amazing. From the 90’s style to shabby chic and updated I couldn’t have ask for it to turn out any better!!
The table was beautiful before I started this makeover. It was high quality and made from wood to die for. It is a solid table not one you can move on your own. Glass in the top was quiet popular years ago but not so much for todays shabby chic world. Heather and Clint didn’t really have an opinion on the glass. I didn’t want to just discard it so I decided to leave it and work it in.
I started sanding the top and getting down to the raw wood. That was quiet the job and took what seemed to be forever. Once I got all the stain and clear finish off I sanded with a finish sand paper so the table top would be nice and smooth. I wiped the table down then started to stain the top with a dark walnut. It took a couple of coats to get it to the dark level I wanted. While that dried I painted the apron and legs of the table the antique white. After they both were dry I sanded the edges to age it like the chairs and bench legs. From top to bottom 3 clear coats were added for protection. When I finally got to a point of laying the glass back in the top of the table it all made sense. I’m not sure it could have looked any better any other way.
The movers picked up the table on Tuesday morning after wrapping it up nice and tight. I was a bit nerves I’m not sure why this piece kinda stuck to me. I was sad to see it leave my house. I don’t need it and I did it for my daughter’s family I guess I fell in love with it. They love it and told me that over and over. I’m glad I could do something they love and save them money also.
A special thank you to my friend Joy for giving me the table set. She deserves a little blue happy treatment in the future. There are 2 benches they both didn’t make it into the picture. Wednesday is hump day but more than that its a new day to count your blessings. Have a very Blue Happy day!!

November 9, 2016That table is great but the bench seat is amazing. Looks like you had the help of a master furniture maker!
