So a few months back a dear friend of mine, I’ll call her Sonya because that’s her real name bragged about a free bench she got. I was so jealous it was such a good find and I wanted it. Sonya told me it was covered in duck tape from top to bottom and it was. I wish I had the picture she sent me but it’s on the old phone that I dropped and killed. I don’t, so you will just have to trust me. Sonya worked her fingers to the bones and they were very sore from doing it but she got it done. Underneath all that tape was beautiful wood waiting for Sonya to give it a make over.
Sometimes things don’t go the way we plan. Sonya made a job change and found no time for projects while getting her feet on the ground. Her husband brought me the bench and said Sonya wanted you to have it. I was so excited and also sad because Sonya was so excited about this project. Knowing she couldn’t finish it kinda made me feel bad about having it. I wanted to do something for her so that she would know how I appreciated the fact that she thought of me to give the bench to. I went to my stash to find something that I could do for her. I tossed around so many of my pieces looking for the perfect piece and there it was right in front of me. The perfect piece to do for Sonya. I decided to do the bench for her and return it finished ready for her home.
I wanted to do a special gift for Sonya and prove that projects don’t take a lot of money, time and thought. You can transform any piece you already have by just adding paint and a little hardware. The steps are so easy I started with Valspars project spray paint in white because that is the color Sonya said was her favorite. To tell the truth I texted her 3 colors last night and said which one? She responded White and you are a crazy lady. I know Sonya I really know I am. I sprayed a light coat of paint and left it to dry while I fixed my lunch for school. I went back out to my studio about 15 minutes later and sprayed the second coat. Thats all it need because this Valspar project spray paint covers very well. I went in side to get the rest of the school things together and came back out in about 20 minutes. All was dray and I was ready to sand the edges. After the sanding I added my hardware, followed by the clear coat. I let it dry while I took my shower and dressed for school, When I got ready to leave for school it was dry and ready to be loaded into the back of my truck. I started this project at 6:30am I left for school at 8:30am I also got ready for school in this time. It was that easy to do this thank you project for Sonya because she deserves it!
I hope that this fits into Sonya’s home and she can use it for her family. I love the way it came out and I love that I’m returning a project she wanted to do, but life got in the way. I’m hoping it brings her Blue Happiness. Enjoy your hump day! It’s almost the Blue Happy weekend.
