Everyone has such a busy life these days. Kids are involved in so many activities like dance, gymnastics, sports, music and so on. When I was a kid you had Brownies and Boy Scouts but if you were lucky you got to do sports. I know families that have multiple kids and each of those kids are involved at least 3 to 5 activities at a time. It makes my head spin to think of keeping up with that. The only way to keep up with it all is organization.
If you go to any of the home stores or hobby stores you will find all kinds of bulletin boards to organize all that paper work and reminders on. The boards are quiet expensive and sometimes have all you need to get organized but most of the time come up short. I love to make these boards and give them personality that works for your family and works in the decor of your home. I like the look of something different. You can turn most anything into a bulletin board. I used an old piece from a screen door and it turned out so cute.
I bought the old piece from Rustybydesignauction.com I feel like I stole it from the auction because no one bid against me on this piece. The auction was in Athens Texas. My plan was to pick it up on the Friday pick up date but then I had that allergic reaction and my day got change to recovery of that. I was so grateful that one of the Rusty employee’s that know me so well and we have become friends brought it back to Forney for me. I picked it up there at the last auction day pick up. I was so excited to get it.
I cleaned it, lightly sprayed the edges with the gray paint to age it even more. Once that was dry I attached the cotton flower at the top. I used wood glue underneath it and used a tack to attach the center. The glue will just give it a stronger hold. Under that I used my favorite word “happy” that I had in my stash. I aged it by spraying it with the same gray color and taping in a strong blue color in various places. The clips to hang important papers and notes from needed to be plenty but go along with the age of the screen door panel. I used wood clothes pins and they fit into the project well. I used wood glue to attach them. You could even go as far as writing woods or names on them with a sharpie paint pen. That way you can organize things by who and what event. I finished it off with spraying it all with clear coat. Don’t forget to attach something to the back to hang it with.
Most anything that you can hang not he wall can become a bulletin board. I once used a head board of my kids crib. The crib was safe anymore so I saved the head board and used it to post pictures and cards of my kids lives. What about using and old t-shirt by cutting a board to fit inside of it and pulling the shirt over that. Then wrap the sleeves to the back and securing them down. You could attach clips to the front by using screws. Or maybe and old 2ft small wood ladder attach hooks on to it and maybe something decorative to the top front. Fix the ladder were it will no longer open and put hangers on the back. I can think of so many things to use like old albums, special blankets, Shoes, toys the list goes on and on. Maybe I’ll do a few of those ideas and share them with you in later blogs.
For now this bulletin board is finish ready to hang and organize your family life. If you are in need of a bulletin board it’s up at Doc Hollidays in Wylie. I’m loving the weather today and I’m cleaning my house today. For me that is a Blue Happy Day well spent.
