So many people ask me where I buy all the cool things I redo, put in someones home or have in my own home. My favorite place to shop is at Rusty by Design Auction. I love this auction house. I started shopping with them back when they were in Roulette Texas. They had one auction a month and now oh my there is some kind of auction going on almost every day.
This is a family owned business and you couldn’t ask for a better family to do business with. I buy from almost all the auctions they have up. The quality of the items are good, the customer service is great and I’ve made friends with many of the employees as well as the family. I was excited yesterday because I went to Rusty’s in Forney to pick up the items I won in this past weekends auction.
I needed a dresser for a wedding gift. I had been shopping estate sales, garage sales and thrift stores but didn’t find one I really liked. I like things that are different, not like everything in the furniture stores. Rusty’s has always offered that different kind of stuff you don’t find everyday. I hit the jack pot when an older dresser popped up and I WON it!!! I also got a 2 tier plate for holiday parties and 2 galvanized wash tubs that will soon be amazing ottomans for someones family room. Well hold on when I got home with the 2 tier plate my daughter loved it. So it’s now packed up ready to go to her new house in November. I buy many things from Rusty’s but this dresser is special it is for a young couple that is getting married in October in Arkansas. I ask the couple what do you need and this is what they ask for. It’s tall and wide so it takes up wall space not floor space. I’m going to do it in a color that will work with furniture they are merging together when they move in together. It has no hardware so I’m planing something really special that will show both their personalities. I can’t wait to give it to them. When I’m redoing a piece for a person that I know I try to make it personal by adding those extra special things. I’ll be adding that with the hardware to this piece to make it just right for them and their new together home. I’ll just say this about this couple they love to hunt, be outdoors and nature is what they live for. I’ll blog about this piece when it’s done. That will be soon because they are getting married in the first part of October so I best get it done soon.
