On Tuesday I drove out to Forney to pick up my wins at Rusty By Design. There is a thrift store next door and I always stop in to see what they have. I seem to find a lot of smalls at this thrift and the money they earn goes to a non-profit that helps people in need.
On this day I didn’t find much of anything. That is the way it is with thrift stores they are hit or miss. I did walk out with one small jewel of a project and it only cost $1. So how could I not grab it up and recycle it into an organizing piece. What I found was this small wood tool box. You can tell it was hand-made and not manufactured. Almost looks like some one made it for a child but never finished it.
Well I’m gonna finish it and when I’m done it will be a redo renew project. Up cycled to organize someones silverware, office supplies or even make up in the bath room. The steps are clear paint it out, sand the edges and clear coat, but wait there is a step at the beginning that is the make or break step to this redo. If it doesn’t happen its just the same old wood tool box painted out. I’m going to use scrape wood to make dividers in the box. That way you can organize the items the you are storing. I use a thin ply wood and cut them the length and depth I needed. I used wood glue and my nail gun to attach them to the inside of the box. That’s it really fast and easy to do. Now I can do the other steps and make it all look as if the dividers were there all along.
I like to make a list of things that I need for my home. That way when I shop and see something I can imagine in my head how to make it work for what I need. There are so many things in estate sales, garage sales and thrift stores that can be recycled into organizing home decor. You just have to look for it and think outside of the box.
It’s Friday and I’ve got a full weekend with cleaning, blogging, cooking and preparing for a wedding shower. I love our busy life style and all the blessing that brings us. I hope you have a full and blessed weekend and make some Blue Happy memories!!
