Okay I know that you all remember the 80’s right. There was bad decor all over the place but some good things as well. One of the most popular things was wood shelves with heart carved out at the top. Recently someone gave me just such wood shelf with a heart so carefully carved out. This friend of mine said she had used it for years in her bathroom to store and organize things. She no longer needed it and shared it with me to recycle it.
I’ve had it for months but I knew just what I was going to do with it from the very minute I had it. I got the idea from many of my mom friends with little girls and all the hair stuff they use. Seems they are always complaining that they can never find any thing to do the hair with. I’m confused myself when I go to look for a pony tail holder or a ribbon to tie my hair back with. There comes that morning that you don’t have one pony tail holder in sight or a ribbon to be found. Where do they go? I try to pile them all on a pile under the counter but they get lost and then there are none. This redo will make all the difference for some little girl. Easy to use, easy to organize and easy to hang!!
I decided to make the shelves in to small compartments that would store ribbons, bows and pony tail holds. I had to attach a front to each one of the shelves. Once I did that I gave it a one color paint job to make it all uniform. Once the paint was dry I sanded the edges and then added the fun stuff. To update the piece I covered the heart cut out with a wood medallion that was left in its natural wood color. On each compartment I painted words that when read together makes a lot of sense “Ribbons”, “Bows” and “Pony Tail Holds”. It lets you know right up front how to organize your hair items so they don’t get lost and you can find them with no problem. I attached a hanger-on the back so it’s all ready to hang up in any little girls bedroom or bathroom. For extra organizing I added the hook at the bottom, great for jewelry or maybe a purse or two. These are the kinds of things that help you organize your home so that valuable time isn’t wasted on looking for things. You get ready faster, start your day faster and there is no stress mess all over the bathroom floor.
I’m all about organizing with items that add to the decor of my home. You can never organize too much so find that spot in your home that cause you night mares, makes you late and just gives you a head. Once you identify that area attach it and organize it. Tuesday is gonna be a rock’n day. I hope it’s Blue Happy for you. This great organizer will be hanging at Doc Holliday in Wylie On Wednesday. It could be a great Christmas gift for that special little girl in your life.
