Good Morning it’s hump day and also trash pick up day in my neighborhood. I love this part of my week when I troll the neighborhoods around me for treasures to be found. I go to the gym really early for a couple of hours on my way home at 7:00 I troll. I turn up my music and start my route that I normally drive every week. Most of the time you find something to redo but sometimes its a dry run. Today was a good day for this trash troller. I got really lucky and found 3 different items to turn into Blue Happy treasures!!!
The first item was a 3 shelf rolling cart. It is not real wood but it has potential to be a really cute cart or side table. I’ll completely change it up using some old wood and paint. Adding some very special hardware will give it the final touch. This piece could also serve as a small center island in a home that might not have room for a large one. The wheels are in great shape and are functional so I don’t have to replace them. Not everything has to be real wood to be saved. Even the cheap press wood items can be repurposed.
The second item was this really old square table that I found just across the street from my home. It looks like it was left out in the rain for months. The veneer is peeling and it has water stains. This piece is gonna be a challenge to bring it back but I know I can do it. I’m gonna make it a fun table with bright colors and old tiles I’ve had for years. Pretty sure I’ll add a bit of old wood to finish it off. It is a small table but can have great use in the home maybe as an entry table, side table in a small space or even a fun table on a covered patio.
The third item is just some old wood from an arbor someone tore down. I don’t really have a plan for it but I’m sure that Greg and I will put it to good use on a future project. I know I always say I don’t take things unless I have a plan for it but wood is different. Old wood is like gold to me and when you need it for a project it’s nice to have a stash. I have a big stash and soon I’ll be sharing with you how I store it. It is so unexpected!
Wow! Projects are stacking up for me these days. I have all the amazing furniture I bought on my trip to south Texas and now some great new finds from hump day trash trolling. Looks like I’m gonna be working long hours the next few weeks to get all these projects done. I love to be busy and have my time filled with creative projects, it makes me Blue Happy. I dare you to look around your home and pick one thing you can redo and reuse. How would you recycle something that isn’t being used any more in your home? What room do you need to reinvent? These questions can make you go crazy but if you put real thought to them you will find a creative answer. If you need help with a creative idea send me a picture I’ll give you some ideas. Have a Blue Happy hump day!
