This summer project can be done so many ways and make your kiddo’s so happy. It doesn’t take much time and the supplies are easy and cheap.
SUPPLIES:
- round wood piece that is at least 6 inches wide. (I got mine at Hobby Lobby in a package of 6 for $2.99 they are in the wood section of the store)
- 8 wood clothing pins
- paint
- a wood decorative piece that best suits the person it’s for or you can use a photo of that person
- Hot glue gun
You need to plug up the glue gun and get it hot and ready for this step. I would lay out one circle for each person doing this project so step 1 can be done all at one time. You will need at least 8 wood clothing pens for each circle. If your using a circles that is bigger you will need more pens. Lay out the pens so they are equal distance apart on the circle. Use the glue gun to glue each clothing pen to the circle. Glue the pens down using only about 3/4 of an inch of the pen with the pinching end out.
Once step 1 is done you are ready to paint. You can use any color you want from the project list I gave out on Friday’s blog or any color you already have. You can also use spray paint if you have a color that you like for this project. You just want to make sure that you cover all of the circle and clothing pens. Make sure it is dry before you move onto step 3.
The center of this project is the part that shows personality. You can use what I did with the wood cut out that I bought at Hobby Lobby. It is also in the wood section along with the circle package. You could use a photo of the person that is doing the project or even use beads, buttons or small items that you love. Really anything you wish as long as it’s not to heavy and it can be glued down with hot glue will work. I like the idea of a photo because it makes it more personal.
EXTRA IDEAS ON USING THIS PROJECT:
If you do one of these for each member of the family you could put a picture of them in the center. After they are finished you can arrange them on a wall in your home in a group. Use this to clip pictures of that person and what they are doing in their life during that year. What a great way to celebrate each family member in your home. When people visit they can see what your family is up too in a glance. If you only do this project for the kids you could put magnets on the back and put them on the frig.
This project is so cute and really easy to make with not many supplies. I made this little pirate for a friend who has twins and I’m finishing up one with a princess crown for the other twin. She was blessed and has a set of twins with a boy and a girl named Harper and Boone. I hope you are enjoying the summer art project blogs. Only 2 more to come in this series with tomorrow being a great project to hang up in a kids room to show off their artwork. I hope your Tuesday is blessed and Blue Happy!
