No sooner than we get the two guest rooms and Greg’s office done here we go again. My eyes have set on a new project. Greg knew something was up when he came home from his business trip. He found paint sample taped all over the fire-place. Yep we are going to remodel our fire-place.
Some might think its a fire-place how much work can that be. Well the fire-place in our family room is huge and it backs up to another huge fire-place in the poker room. It’s a double-sided fire-place from floor to ceiling on both sides. We or I often refer to it as the big brick monster in the room. I wanted to just remove it and open up the poker room to the family room but the cost is way over the top. I had rather spend my money on something else so I’m embracing the big gray brick monster in the room. I’m gonna rehab it from top to bottom on both sides. I don’t wanna give away all my ideas and plans you’ll have to wait for reveal day. I’ll give you a few hints it will involve paint, wood a bit of metal and glass. Now that is a loaded hint.
The front curb reveal will be on Monday. I’m putting the final touches on the flower beds this weekend. I’m so proud on my home and the way it welcomes friends and family. I just wanna sit on my porch bench and look around at all the changes. I’m so glad I went with the blue paint and not creme white. It has added such character and charm and Blue Happiness. I have had a few neighbors text me and tell me how nice the new door color is. When I was working on the pots for the porch I had a few walkers stop by and tell me they love what I’ve done to the front of the house. It’s nice to hear from neighbors and that they like what you have done. I’m sure they would be shocked at the inside of the house and all those changes. I’ve always said to Greg I never wanna just live in a house but I always strive to live in a home. I think after 5 years this house has become a home.
Giving new life to something in your home can be the same as a relationship. You dust off the dirt, give it a new coat of paint and enjoy what once was worn out and is now new again. It really is that simple and it is a choice. You give up on something or you dust if off and renew it. What ever in your life that has become a bit shabby around the edges with a little TLC you can make it chic again. I hope that your Friday is full of blessings and your weekend is nothing more than Blue Happy.

April 8, 2016Can’t wait to see what you make of the Big Grey Monster of a fireplace! Regarding the color..should it be a color that allows the color that the smoke makes (if you use the fireplace) to blend in with?

April 8, 2016This is gonna be a fun redo. As for the burn mark on the brick that was there when we moved in. The previous owner used real wood but we have it set up for gas logs. There shouldn’t be an issue with smoke because gas logs don’t produce smoke. It is also safer to use gas logs. Thank you so much for reading my blog I so appreciate it.
