Finally I got back into Greg’s office to finish up. I’m not a very patient person and being told to get out didn’t make me very happy. I also don’t like to be told what to do and that makes me crazy. I almost think Greg enjoyed me pacing outside of his office chomping at the bit to get back in.
Mid-day Thursday I was given permission to finish up what I had started earlier in the week. Before I started this project I ask Greg what was important to him. He said NO loud color (not a problem), not a lot of furniture, a place for his printer so it’s not on his desk and an extra chair so when he needs me to be in the office. It all seemed easy enough so off I went to find what I needed. We were starting with a clean slate. I even needed a new desk because the one Greg had was awkward and big for this room. So out it went and desk was added to the list of things we needed.
I started with the desk with hutch, looking at estate sales and thrift stores. I had no luck but as luck would have it Rustysbydesignauction.com had an auction that weekend. So I hoped on-line and grabbed this amazing desk for Greg. It had everything he wanted, an L-shape, 2 filing drawers, a key pad drop front drawer and an attached tall hutch that had storage. I had planned on painting it but Greg said he liked the wood look and I agreed. After all it is his office, his desk and he does spend most of his day in this room. I spent $300 for the desk and it was a steal of a deal. When we picked up the desk there was a manufacture tag on the inside of the drawer. Greg looked it up on-line and found the desk was still online for sale BUT with a big price tag of $1700.
The other items on the list were small and easy to find but needed a bit creative thinking. Greg wanted something to sit his printer on so that it didn’t take up space on top of his desk. I knew just what to go and get and it was in my storage of goodies. I had this old typewriter metal stand that had wheels. It was old, gray and had lots of scratches and stickers all over it. I cleaned it up, sprayed it with black satin valspar and called it done. It’s a great place for the printer. I added the tray to the bottom to keep magazines and printer paper. The tray was another goodie from my stash -and It was an estate sale find for $1.
I was down to the chair for his office. I wanted something that looked masculine and not fluffy. I didn’t have the time to go find one so I went back to my stash and this beauty was in the back just waiting on a chance to be placed in a room. I didn’t have to do a thing to it other than a good dusting and wipe down. I had bought this a while back from Rusty’s. What would I do with out good old Rusty’s auction. Next to the chair I had these 2 stackable side table that fit the wood and black look of the rest of the furniture.
To finish off things I hung up art that Greg selected. I would love to tell you how he picked it all out and hung it, but that is all on Greg. Somethings are special to him like the art from Paris he bought over 30 years ago. He also has a piece from a street artist in Las Vegas, a picture of him playing in the WSOP and other art he loves. On the floor to finish it all out I purchased at Lowes a build your own rug kit. We needed it to be a certain size and this kit allowed us to do that.
There are things I still need to do, although Greg thinks it’s all done. I wanted to paint the walls a warm gray like the rest of the house. I think Greg just wanted it to end. I’ll do that on his next business trip out-of-town. Sneaky I know but I do this all the time and sometimes he never notices. Lol you gotta love that right!
So it’s the end of the week and I’ve had many mountains to climb on each reveal and in my personal life as well. With all that said I really did enjoy these Blue Happy reveals. I hope you enjoyed all 3 of them as well and I’m excited to reveal the front of my home on Monday. End your week with a great Friday and I hope its a Blue Happy Weekend for you!
