Ugh yesterday was less than a banner day. It started out normal and fine but ended up less than Blue Happy. I’m gonna be honest and honestly I just wanted to go to bed. I’ve said before that I try not to sweat the small stuff. There are days the small stuff starts to add up and eventually pulls you down. Today would be one of those piled up small stuff days. So what do you do when your day starts to spiral out of control and the small stuff is piling up? You bring on the Blue Happy thoughts and make a plan to regain the day. There wasn’t much of my day left when I got home from Zumba at 8:00 but I was determined to end the day on a high note.
I started by trying to clear my head before I reached home. Zumba helped, exercise always does I guess that is why I do it so much. When I got home I decided to wrap my head around a small project after all it was after 8:00 by this point. There is a project I’ve been saving to do for the bay window in guest room #2. I found an old light fixture on the side of the street a few months ago, I brought it home and left it in Greg’s chair with a note. The note read “Please remove all the electrical from this fixture. Love Me” He did and now this project is gonna happen.
I started by wiping all the glass and brass trim down. I picked a beautiful knob from my stash in the studio and put it on the top. If you notice in the picture there are small holes in the top for much needed air for the plants. I had gone to Lowes earlier in the week and bought a few succulents and a nice pot to plant in. The glass light now becomes a glass terrarium for the succulents. I needed something for it to sit on in the window. I decided to use one of the plant stands that I blogged about a few months back. It’s the perfect size and height for the terrarium to sit on. This project proves that you can take almost any trash and make it into something usable.
Succulents have a special memory for me. My son loved to buy them when he was a little boy. Almost every summer we would add one or two to our patio. Every time I see them I think of him and those trips to the garden shop. He stills love to go to the garden shop today. This past weekend he planted a garden on his patio. I don’t understand when people decided to have an unhappy day. Sometimes it just happens, it’s what you do with that day that will make a difference. My day was long and got really bumpy, but I made a choice to change that. I came in the door with a smile, I did a project and my day ended in a Blue Happy Way. I hope that you have a marvelous Thursday and Blue Happy moments.
