So excited to share this reveal with you. I’m in love with this room so much so I think this next weekend I’m gonna sleep in it. I had a vision as to how it would turn out and the final redo is more than I imagined. I worried that it wouldn’t be all that I thought it would be. Sometimes what gets in your head is not what happens in reality. So blessed that it all turned out amazing and beautiful!!
I wanted this room to have a feeling of comfort. So layering texture, colors and items that made me feel good was the order of the day. The bed is the biggest part of this room. Lets face it, the room is 13×14 and it has a california king bed right smack in the center of it. Why such a big bed well, Greg and I got a new bed so the old bed went to the guest room. My theme for life “work with what ya got”. So I had to make the bed full of color and texture. I picked 3 different patterns that all work well together. The base was the black and white comforter followed by a quilt that is full of color and pattern. The quilt has a lining of teal blue and white pattern. All three completely contrast but work in an odd color scheme that make the bed inviting and warm. Pillows are what make a bed if you ask me. I love to pile them on in stacks and the more the merry. I used the black on white that match the comforter set. Next in the stack I used the white on black that match the sheet set. To give it color I used shams that matched the quilt on the end of the bed. Finishing off the pillows with 2 square bright blue pillows and one that has a sweet little bird on it. I had no head-board but quickly came up with a plan to make one. I bought this door from a friend of mine that sales vintage items from Rustic Warehouse in Rockwall Texas. This place is amazing and a must shop and see. Thank you Nicole for rescuing this beautiful door and selling it to me. I used 1×4 boards to make a frame. I attached the 1×4’s to the bed frame and called it done. The glass on the door gives it a light feeling and with the bed so big and heavy that was important.
The night stand I showed you on Monday’s blog turned out to be fantastic and pulled the coral color out of the bed quilt. On the wall over the night stand is an old cabinet I found at a garage sale for $5. I use it to keep sewing items that are quick to get to. I hate to look for sewing stuff and this cabinet keeps it at hand. Already a few friends have seen the room and ask “what is the #9 for on the wall”. Well I like to have things around my house that remind me of my family and good memories. The number 9 was my sons number on his football uniform. It reminds me of great times our family had on Friday night football games.
The window seat is decked out with the succulent and terrarium, books for Ethan, art on the wall and a chair for guest to sit. By far my favorite part of this room is the old metal garden cart. It is stunning and fits this spot perfect. I love when I find things and Instantly know where it will be in my home. Greg thought I was insane when I drug this thing home. It was the first piece Greg said that looks really good there. Score, a smile from Greg.
I’m looking so forward to sharing the rest of this week of reveals. Redoing a room can be a challenge and if you have no to little money it can seem impossible. I spent in total about $450 on the redo of this room. I shopped thrift store, garage sales, auctions and vintage shops to find all the goodies for this redo. It takes time but the savings is so worth it and the out come is………well you can see for your self. I hope you enjoyed these pictures as much as I enjoyed doing this room. Go out and have a fantastic Tuesday and make it a Blue Happy one as well.

March 30, 2016I love this redo! I agree that the garden cart works in here. I would have been skeptical like Greg. The orange table really comes to life in the room too. You didn’t mention the wonderful painting on the wall. Who did that? It looks like a likeness of your grandson… maybe done by Heather?
