I had no idea when I decided to do this blog on a dog bed that the days events would entail saving a dog. Funny how your day plays out, you make plans and then all the sudden things go in a completely different direction.
I had art club at Wylie Prep this morning until 12 noon. I left school and headed to Lucas to visit the bestie Karen. Just minutes before I got to her street I noticed a car swing hard into the other lane and then another car. As I got closer I notice a beautiful white English bull-dog running in and out of the lanes. No one was stopping to help him so I did. I pulled into a side street where he had run to and got out of my truck. I started walking towards him and he bolted past me and got into my truck. I took him to the Lucas Vet just down the road a bit. They helped me get him back to his owner. They were great animal owners and had him chipped. I also found out that he was a she named Zoe. The owner called me and gave me her address and I dropped her back home after I visited Karen. By the way Karen in coming along on her healing please keep praying for her.
I planned to do periscope around 3:00 on Tuesday to talk about my Wednesday blog project. That project was a dog bed who know the entire day would become about dogs. My friend Susan gave me an old drawer that she was no longer using. When she recently moved into her beautiful new home she came across the drawer. Her husband Mickey said that’s junk she can’t make anything out of that. Well Mickey do you want salt and pepper with those words when you eat them.
I started by taking off the old drawer rails on the sides and giving it a good cleaning. I choose a lite gray for the outside and a beautiful avocado green for the inside of the drawer. I had to give it about 3 coats of each color to cover the dark wood. Once dry I gave sanded the corners and edges for that all loved shabby chic look and finished it off with 5 coats of clear finish so it will be easy to clean. We all know doggies are messy little guys.
There was one little problem the front of the drawer caused the drawer to not sit level because the front was higher than the back. I had to add 2 knobs to the back to serve as legs. Also the drawer front is set on the drawer a bit crocked. That makes one side of the drawer up higher than the other side. So in a true form I had to ask the hubs to do some engineering to make it all work out and level. I added a dog pad I bought at Walmart and called it done.
This great little dog bed will be on the Blue Happy Living online store coming in early to late summer. I will make it custom by putting your dog or dogs name on it. I’m sure it will make a great piece in your home. Having this for your dogs to rest in can make any room more organized even for your sweet little fur babies.
Sometimes more often than we want the plans we make for our day have to be changed. I had lots of things on my to do list when I left my house this morning, those things are still on my list. Saving this sweet dog was my biggest focus nothing else seemed to matter. I’m so glad she had a chip and to-night she is home with her family. I would hope someone would do that for me and my doggies. I guess today taught me that the things we think are important can wait after all. I hope that your Wednesday is full of Blue Happiness and you can bring happiness to someone around you.
