We all have things in our path that are unfinished. Conversations that need to be finished or at least settled, boxes that you have no idea what is in them, and for sure projects we started and haven’t finished. Many things keep us from finishing but it’s an amazing feeling when you go back pick up where you stopped and finish up. This my friends is called closure and that feels awesome.
I for one have had a few projects that have lagged behind and became stale while I focused else where. My Master bedroom has been sitting half-finished for weeks, more like months, and I’m sick of it. This weekend I’m gonna paint, decorate, organize and finish up this project. So expect the big reveal on February the 5th for sure. I got off track for good reason, school started back, Greg got sick and the studio wasn’t finished. All good reasons but still unfinished and way over due for a finish up. I love my home and I love to be in my home. Some say I’m over the top about wanting it to be perfect. It’s not perfection I’m going for its more comfort and completion. Everyone’s heads work in different ways, mine can’t deal with disorganization and mess.
When we sold our home in Lucas we moved into a rent home for 6 months while we found a new home. I was so bored with no home projects to do. I decided it was a great time to paint new art for my new home. I got a few paintings done before we bought and moved again into the home we have now, Just before we moved I had started a water-color of an old church in New York. The photo was taken by a dear friend Travis Crenshaw. I promised myself I would set it aside until we moved into the new house and I would finish it. Well I never finished it. I’m starting to clean out my 2 guest rooms to put new flooring in and I found it under the bed. I pulled it out and didn’t unwrap it because it made me feel a bit guilty. It sat leaned against the wall and I swear it haunted me every time I walked by. I finally opened it up and was amazed by how beautiful it was. I remember seeing the photo for the first time and thinking what a beautiful photo. Travis has a great eye for photography. I hope that my watercolor does it justice. I’m going to take the time to finish this piece of art work and make it complete. I would like to share it with Travis when I’m done and maybe his very cool wife Christy will want to hang it in their new home.
Closure is something we all need, from the smallest of projects to saying goodbye to someone. So many times we wrap and pack things away, including our feelings, hoping to get back to it or hoping it will just go away. How many times have we all done this and felt the weight of the unfinished pull at our lives. Pulling things out, unwrapping them and dealing with them is refreshing to our lives. I’m sure glad I opened the painting because now I can finish it up and feel complete. I hope you can open your unfinished projects and find your Blue Happy complete.
