Way before Lowes and Home Depot were around Carpenters needed tool boxes. So they crafted tool boxes out of wood by hand. There are no two alike in size, color, shape or type of wood. That’s what makes them so unique and fun to collect.
Nowadays people collect them to use for many things and tools really aren’t one of them. I have one sitting on my kitchen table with napkins and paper plates. It was pretty dirty when I got it but sanding, painting and a clear coat made it ready to use. It’s great to sit next to a dessert tray when I have guests. My set up is all ready to serve. I wanted to share with you a few ways they can be used. So next time you are at a thrift store, estate sale or garage sale you can grab them up for what you need them for.
None of these have been redone. Sometimes the age of these tool boxes and the rough texture makes them beautiful. So I decided to show you these ideas with the boxes as is, no repairs, no new paint and no change whatsoever.
The first box is a great shape it has so much potential. With the handle down the middle it divides the box into two great sides. I made it into a coffee serve box just by adding all the necessities for coffee. This would look great on any counter top or coffee bar.
The second box is very long and has attachments that allow you to stand things in them. I thought it would be great for an artist box. I filled it full of art supplies and with the handle it can be taken anywhere.
The third box is very small but has 6 great divided little boxes. This could be used for so much but how great to put you utensils on the table or counter top.
All these ideas are great but there are so many more ways to use them. How about storage for makeup or toys. I could even see it as a great ottoman tray to keep remotes. The ideas are endless it all depends on what your family needs.
These tool boxes will be included in my December 5th sale. I’m not sure if I will finish them out or just leave them as is, you will just have to drop by and see. Have a great Blue Happy Day!
