When I was young and just out of high school I didn’t hang around my home town very long. I graduated when I was 18. Just weeks before I turned 21 I left town and moved to San Antonio Texas. I really never looked back other than a few visits here and there.
I lost touch with most of the people I grew up with. After so much time had passed I just thought it had been too long to reach out to them. About a year ago I decided I’d try this Facebook thing and I reconnected with a lot of those friends. I do miss them but know that we are older and clearly different people today.
When I started my blog a name popped up one day in the comments. It was my friend Tammy from high school. Tammy has been a BIG supporter of my blog from day one. I’ve been so blessed to have reconnected with her. Recently Tammy was able to help me out by representing Blue Happy at an upcoming event I couldn’t be at. I’m looking forward to her telling me all about it. Maybe I’ll share it with you in a future blog.
Sometimes we overlook things that are old and just assume they are not repairable. We sit items and relationships aside and let them become older and worn. When all they need is a little TLC and repair to make them come alive again. I’ve done this with Tammy and I’m looking forward to getting to know her as the women she is today.
This little table was given to me by a dear friend. She had found it and wanted to do a project with it but never had the time. When she gave it to me she said there was damage to one of the back legs. I painted it black because there were lots of damaged spots and black covered those nicely. I gave it the rubbed off edges and used stencils to update the top. Finished it off with a couple clear coats for protect.
The legs had been cut off by someone to make it shorter or to even it out. I’m not sure but the cut broke one leg and made it shorter than the others. This was a hard repair because if I cut the other legs to match the table would be way to short to use. I added a small piece of wood to lengthen the leg. To cover the repair I added rubber feet to the bottom of each leg.
This little table had been tossed out then picked up. It had damage and needed to be repaired so that it was whole again. It’s not perfect but its a beauty! So much time had passed that it seemed like the best thing was to just forget about it. All it needed was love to be Blue Happy once again.
Because of its damage and imperfection this little table will not be for sale at the December 5th sale. It will be up for adoption at the sale to the first person that wants to give it a home. It has lots of life left in it. It just needs a chair to sit by or a couch to snuggle with.
Reuniting with old friends can be so rewarding. Restoring a piece of furniture to usable glory is so pleasing to your heart. It makes me so Blue Happy! Do you have a relationship that is laying asleep? What about a piece of furniture that is in need of some TLC? Go make these things Blue Happy once again.
