I love to garage sale and thrift shop. I love finding items I know can be fantastic with just a little love and creativity. Sometimes it’s hard for me to pay for an item with out jumping and screaming with excitement.
I make a plan to shop all my favorite thrifts and finish off the day hitting a few garage sales. I always look past the clothing, dishes and toys and dig deep into the wood items and wood furniture. I always seem to find a few treasures.
Before I check out I take a moment to try and think of a new way to use what I’ve found. If not a new way to use it how can I improve it so its renewed. I don’t buy things to just pile it up with the thought of “someday I’ll find a use”. When I decorate I always try to decoratively organize. That means that most items in my home have a function. Not everything but most things.
On a recent garage sale venture I found this great little table for only $10. I was so excited! I grabbed it up with the plans of renewing it. I did just that with 2 coats of paint, sanding the edges, 3 coats of clear finish and finishing it off with a pop of color on the handle.
This little table can be great for an entry hall, a bedside or chair side table or even a plant stand. So cute with so many options.
I look around my home and decide what I need I always have a list of what I’m looking for when I shop. I do buy things I dont need so I can redo for friends, family and of course my blog, but in general I’m not a hoarder.
Doing something new in your home can change the feel of a room. It can give your home new energy. By renewing and reusing the cost is low. I love the challenge of the redo. It makes me Blue Happy. Go find your redo Blue Happy!
