Mother Goose Goes New York

September 3, 2015

Four years ago my life changed forever. My daughter gave me a gift that could never be topped, my grandson was born. My life changed forever and my heart, well he owns it.
Months before he was born the planning of his nursery started with a picture my daughter and son-in-law owned. It was rather large and the room was rather small. The picture was of the New York streets with taxi cabs.

The plan was to start with day time at the door going all around the room. As you get to the crib day time started fading to night time and ended back at the door.

The concept of the room was to have Heather’s favorite nursery rhymes go to New York. We had buildings of all shapes and sizes, trees for Central Park and all the nursery characters throughout every wall. My favorite part is the road that went around the entire room. I found little wood taxi cabs, police cars and if you look you will see a helicopter in the sky.

The furniture was put together from thrift stores, garage sales, IKEA and Target. The window box over the window was built by Papa David and spray painted by Uncle D. When I was painting Yaya Janice helped me paint the walls. Sweet Pops Greg well he wrote the check for all that I spent. The total for this sweet nursery was, drum roll please, $565!

So much love was put into this room. Ethan was loved so much before he even got here. I love my children with all my heart more than I have ever loved anything in my life. I never knew I could love another child that much until Ethan was born. My heart melts every time I see him, every time I talk to him on the phone and ever time he calls me Lolli. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for him. He is the light of my day and the red of my heart.

In the spring my daughter’s family will be moving into a new home and I can’t wait to do Ethan a new room. Big and better than ever and yes it will be a Blue Happy Room! I hope you have a Blue Happy Day!
