I have a beautiful friend that also teaches at my gym. She is not only beautiful on the outside but beautiful on the inside. I, along with the rest of our friends, got to share in her pregnancy and her joy of knowing she was having a little girl.
This week we all get to celebrate this special little girl turning 1. I can’t believe it has been a year. I wanted to do something special for her room. When this nursery was put together by her mom it was over the top but so beautiful. I love the care that went into every detail. I love when people put this much care and love into their home.
I noticed that this week someone in their family had given this special little girl a tiny little piano from the past. Her mom posted pictures on Facebook of her standing and playing it. A “Light Bulb” went off as to what to do for her gift.
In my stash of goodies I had this little child’s chair. I dug it out and cleaned it up. It was a bit nicked up so I decided to sand the edges off for the worn look and that would take care of the nicks. There really wasn’t any painting that needed to be done. I spent $25 at Hobby Lobby on goodies to dress it up.
I started by hot gluing the burlap on the edge of the chair. I pulled one string to make it gather and ruffle. I layered on top the white lace and the pink ruffle. After it was all glued down and stable, I used decorative tacts around the edge. The glue was only to hold it in place so I could put the tacts in place.
Now to add the fun and whimsical to the back of the chair. I picked a few flowers that would match her room. The room is pink with a touch of teal so I picked up these cute little birds to sit a top the bird house. I pulled the remainder of the white ruffle up into a bustle.
The cost of this chair was $22 because I will be returning the second package of tacts I didn’t open. There are so many items tossed out and left to the garage. There are so many items that are really priced cheap at your local thrift stores. Holidays, birthdays or gifts just because you love someone doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. I encourage you to just step out there and try. Be creative and go for it.
I can’t wait to see this precious little girl sit at her piano. I love that we get to celebrate her big day. I enjoyed making this chair for her it made my day really Blue Happy. Look for your Blue Happy in those small things in life they all add up to be a very big Blue Happy moment. Go be Blue Happy!
